There are more than 80 millennials in the U.S. today. In fact, they outnumber Baby Boomers 3 to 1. Over the last year, millennials have become the majority in our country’s workforce, with an estimated buying power of $200 billion. Without a doubt, they are a force to be reckoned with.
Millennials have never known life without technology. They interact with and view the world in a different way than past generations have. Now in their early 20s to mid-30s, they are plugged in, feel they can make a difference in the world, rely on their connections for information, are brand-loyal and don’t trust traditional advertising. Their unique generation is shifting the way we all do business.
One-size-fits-all marketing and sales strategies no longer do the trick. We need to engage with and build relationships with millennials in the forums where they spend their time – online and on mobile devices.
Make it easy for millennials to find and share information about your products and your company. Find ways to personalize their experience with your company – help them feel special. Show them that you care about them – once they are happy with your company, they will become your brand advocate and share their positive experience with others.
