Some students may look at the start of a new school year and feel like Ferris Bueller, wondering “How can I possibly be expected to handle school on a day like this?”
But one thing that can help students feel a bit more prepared to handle school is having the right gear. Prepping with essential items can get students, teachers and support staff ready for anything (even lip sync parades!). From backpacks to new tees, or jackets and caps, when with the right gear lined up even the school-skipping teens from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off would feel ready for a day of classes. Here are some trends to watch out for as we head into the school year.
Comfort is Key
One trend that seems to be around for the long haul is athleisure styles that can easily transition throughout the day. These styles are equally comfortable as they are functional. Think of pieces like comfortable leggings, tees featuring stretch, soft cotton face masks, and loose-fitting fabrics—these kinds of styles all prioritize comfort.
Sustainable Styles
More than ever, students are looking for clothing and accessories that are conscious of their footprint. Think about styles that use recycled materials, fabric that doesn’t need to be re-dyed, and other sustainable practices that help drive eco-friendly products.
Outdoor-Ready
For some, school days may include spending a bit more time outside. One of the best ways to help students and educators prepare for this transition is providing layering options. Fleece, rain jackets, 1/4-zips, and other layering pieces will prepare everyone for a variety of environments, whether indoors or outdoors.
No matter what, helping our students and educators feel ready for a new year should be simple and easy. Helping everyone enjoy the school year is as important as any final exam. Because, as we’ve all learned a little too well these past few years, life moves pretty fast. And we can all benefit from stopping, looking around, and trying our best not to miss it.
