Earlier this month, the Pantone Color of the Year for 2019 was announced, and the choice is…(envelope, please)…Living Coral!

“Vibrant, yet mellow PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment,” described Pantone in their announcement. “Living Coral emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent color mesmerizes the eye and mind.”

Simply put, Living Coral represents optimism, joy, and playful expression – and we’re on board with all of it.

The Pantone Color of the Year is chosen by the Pantone Color Institute, drawing from color influences and trends around the world in art collections, fashion, design, and the entertainment industry. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, says that they look for “ascending color trends, colors that are being used in broader ways and broader context than before” in making the choice each year.
