Can a single t-shirt save the planet?
Let’s be real: there’s only so much a shirt can do. But when every choice we make matters, the newly-launched Core Blend Recycled Tee (PC01) from Port & Company® represents something special.
Chief Product Officer Pat Noonan is one person who’s excited to see how it enhances our growing collection of shirts made of recycled fabrics.
“The PC01 is our most value-oriented sustainable shirt.”
– Pat Noonan, Chief Product Officer
PC01 Core Blend Recycled Tee Highlights
- 100% recycled materials
- Certified carbon-neutral
- 17 colors
- Small–4XL
- Deep inventory
A Sustainability Star
The PC01 is a more sustainable option from the moment it goes into production, starting with the cotton fabric itself.
“We make the PC01 by using our own factories’ scraps, breaking them down into fibers, spinning them back into yarn and then making a new shirt with that recycled yarn.”
– Pat Noonan, Chief Product Officer
Add polyester made from recycled plastic bottles, and you’ve got a soft, 50/50 cotton/poly blend that’s certified carbon-neutral as a part of the C-FREE program.
A Tubular Fit for a Better Value
The PC01 is our most value-oriented sustainable shirt thanks in part to its tubular design. The main body is made from a single piece of fabric—a less expensive way to make a shirt.
“The PC01 is our only tubular recycled option,” Pat says. ”That’s what allows us to hit such a great price point.”
Most common sizes are available for around $3. This gives customers a full range of sustainable shirts to choose from. If we follow the SanMar Tee Navigator, where shirts are categorized into a Good-Better-Best pricing strategy, our sustainable tees look like this:
- Good: PC01
- Better: District Re-Tee
- Best: Allmade
“It’s a really foundational addition,” Pat says. “We now have a good, better and best recycled t-shirt story to tell.”
Ready To Roll
If you’re looking for a shirt that’s sustainable, affordable and available, the PC01 Core Blend Recycled Tee has you covered.
“We’ve made major commitments to the program and already have really deep inventory. This will be a core product for us for years to come, and we’re all excited to see it start taking off.”
– Pat Noonan, Chief Product Officer
So the Core Blend Recycled Tee might not be able to save the Earth all by itself. But by making sustainable apparel more accessible to everyone, it can definitely make a difference.
