If you’re looking at SanMar’s 974-page 2020 Apparel, Bags and Caps catalog (or even the 60-page New Arrivals catalog) and wondering where to start, worry not — we’re here to help. We had SanMar product gurus Holly Rox and Brandon Kerr pick out a few of their favorite pieces. Here’s what they had to say.
The New Corporate Uniform
New uniforming options find “a middle ground between the needs of the office and the preferences of the modern worker,” Brandon explains. This compromise resulted in many new pieces that look great alone or when layered together.
Untucked wovens allow for a more comfortable, less formal look by shortening both the front and back hem for a balanced look. The Port Authority® Untucked Fit SuperProTM Oxford and the OGIO® Urban Shirt – OGIO’s first woven shirt, by the way – put this trending look to work in the office.
Holly likes the variety of SanMar’s new patterned wovens. “They can look cute and rustic for a county fair or I can see them styled up at an upscale hotel, fancy restaurant or at the office.” The new pieces include the Broadcloth Gingham Easy Care shirt and the Pincheck Easy Care shirt, with a more subtle and understated texture pattern.
New Tri-Blends
Holly had a lot to say about how far we’ve come with our tri-blends. “The tri-blend fabric of today isn’t what we had eight or nine years ago.” Early tri-blends were heavily textured, even kind of chunky, while today’s tri-blends are more refined, softer and drape beautifully.
Some of the new Sport-Tek® additions are simply complementing pieces we already carried, such as the PosiCharge® Long Sleeve Tri-Blend Wicking Raglan Tee, which had a short-sleeve version available previously. The Ladies PosiCharge® Tri-Blend Wicking Fleece Jogger, on the other hand, is a completely new addition in the same super-soft tri-blend fabric that wicks moisture and keep decorations bright and crisp.
We can’t talk about tri-blends without spending a little time with District’s Perfect Tri® family. We’ve added about a dozen new colors to the line overall, plus new silhouettes for youth boys and girls, and a new Women’s Sleeveless Hoodie for just a bit of attitude.
UV Protection
Finally, we’ve added new UV-protective pieces for customers with sensitivity to sunlight. The new Posi-UVTM Pro t-shirts and polos have a 50 UPF rating in every color – excellent protection for those who spend a lot of time outdoors. “We don’t just slap a 50-UV label on them and call it a day,” Brandon says. “The UV protection is inherent in the way the fabric is knit, so it’s going to last for the life of the shirt.”
These are just a few of our favorite pieces from the last SanMar New Arrivals collection.
