August 8, 2024

Outerwear designed with exceptional technical detail. A harmonious blend of style and function.

These are just a couple of the reasons we’re excited to announce our new, limited edition collection of Outdoor Research jackets, vest and fleece.

The line includes 12 styles:

  • 6 down jackets and vests
  • 4 midweight fleece
  • 2 soft shell jackets

All are ready to be decorated. Most offer open space on the left chest for team logos or messaging. The distinctive “OR” logo is added in other locations on each piece for co-branding opportunities.

“In recent years, Outdoor Research has brought their products to a nice intersection of function and fashion. Retailers are loving the product and seeing great success with it, and we’re really excited to get after the momentum this brand has.”
– Julie Odle, SanMar Retail Brand Director

Outdoor Research

All Outdoor Research products feature bluesign® Approved Materials. bluesign® is a system that traces textiles through the manufacturing process and makes sustainability improvements from factory floor to finished product.

It’s all part of Outdoor Research’s love for the outdoors and commitment to environmental responsibility. It also aligns with the SanMar mission to create A Canvas For Good.

Outdoor Research

It’s All In the Name

Founder Ron Gregg started Outdoor Research — also known as OR — after a mountain summit attempt gone wrong. Rescuers airlifted Gregg’s frostbitten climbing partner off the slopes of Denali when his gaiters failed. Gregg, a nuclear physicist by profession, immediately thought of how he could design better gear.

That research-led philosophy informs OR’s product design to this day. The company makes apparel and accessories that are innovative, versatile, durable and provide wearers with good value.

Tested in the Big Office

Tested in ‘The Big Office,’ Built for Anywhere

Since its inception, Outdoor Research has aimed to get more people outside by designing gear built for the elements.

Testing their creations in the great outdoors — which Gregg called “The Big Office” — has been a vital part of OR’s work from the beginning. This is another approach that continues today.

“We have the unique opportunity to have a factory here in Seattle, and we’re able to take the innovations that we’re producing and really test them out with our athletes and employees in the Pacific Northwest.”
– Evan Merritt, Outdoor Research Corporate and Group Sales Manager
