Colors of Pride
Color is emotional and meaningful! It’s said to have powerful benefits for boosting our emotional health, which can help us as we move into the future. It is Pride Month after all, so what better time than now to continue our story about colorful trends? Pride is all about celebrating and accepting each other’s (and our own) uniqueness. It is a time of coming out and experiencing all of the joy that life has to offer. Color is everywhere!
Last month I mentioned that pops of color added to our outfits through our masks – that trend will continue. Eye-catching accessories are important as we see each other from the keyboard up. This month let’s not discount the joyful expression of prominently-worn bright colors, either as a solid top, a jacket or even head-to-toe.

Tying it All in
Every inch of tie dye pieces are brimming with joyful color. Over the past three months there has been a rise in families crafting together, like doing DIY tie dye at home. That trend is expected to resonate with consumers post-pandemic. With the creation of all of this tie dying, the “twinning” trend of matching clothing with your friends or your little “mini me” in the house is more popular than ever. Of course, if you are busy or not interested in the mess that goes along with tie dying, it is much easier to just buy the look already finished in adult and youth sizes.
Bring the Bling
We still need a little magic in our lives and metallic finishes on clothing and on special shimmering accessories are in demand now more than ever.
Look-at-me accent pieces of jewelry are reemerging as focal points. But I’ not talking about any old mall store bauble, I’m talking the good stuff. Fine jewelry sales are up 35% for many brands. Semi-precious or precious stones are colorfully adding lots of sparkle to a wrist, ear or neck near you. Some people are spending a little extra money on quality crystals or other energy-giving stones to lift their spirits and promote “good vibes.” There is data showing sales of brightly-colored rainbow jewelry were up by 40% over April and May, and that doesn’t include sales from Mother’s Day or graduation gifts.
Trends are moving toward lots of bright colors with unique styles and accents. Masks will continue to be fashion centerpieces, so if you are participating in any Pride events remember to share your colorful style by wearing one.
